Yes, we've all been lucky enough to have had some really amazing musical experiences in great bands performing with great musicians! Of course, any band can tell you all about the cool people they've shared the stage with; How long they've been performing; Who their favorite bands and musicians are; Their favorite gear and why; and all the places they've toured and all the cool venues where they've played.  While all of that is very cool and interesting, we thought you might also like to know some information about the members of the Band X that we typically don't share...

Individual Band Member Bio's

Jim Harris

Keyboard & Vocals

Jim’s keyboard background has its roots in Baptist churches. By 4th grade, he played background music as his minister father preached the Sunday message. His early rock band experiences began in junior high playing the songs of the Ventures and Beatles. By high school, his band played for the governor’s Inaugural Ball. His advanced degrees are in radio, television, and English, which is why his career was teaching high school humanities. Jim’s student teaching was in Winterset, Iowa, which was the setting for the movie, “The Bridges of Madison County.”  There were various music acts that took him all over the United States and Canada. The 70s also landed him in Orlando, Florida as the character “Pluto” at Walt Disney World, as well as playing the 1974 World’s Fair in Spokane, Washington.

His current interests are primarily travel, which has taken him to 47 countries, and at last count, exactly 40 cruises.  When on stage, he’s usually seated behind the keyboard, but occasionally Jim takes the microphone and steps into the spotlight.

BIll Hemberger

Drums & Vocals

Bill and his drums are the heartbeat of Band X. His roots go all the way back to Parsippany, New Jersey where he’s been playing since the age of 8. He comes from a musical family with a father who plays piano. His early influences include The Beatles and the godfather of drums, Buddy Rich. The years during high school saw the addition of horns and an act that emulated the powerful brass act “Chicago.”

Although Bill’s professional career was in broadcasting and commercial voice-overs, he continued his work with drums as he played for weddings, and 50s acts who came through New Jersey. This included such highly recognizable acts as The Drifters, The Platters, The Four Aces and the Four Lads. He continued doing these shows beginning in the 70s continuing through the 2000s.

His move to Austin, Texas included advanced training on the drums as he played with some of the nation’s most capable musicians. It included studio work and laid the foundation for being a permanent member of “The Handsome Geniuses.” Bill would go on to record four albums with that group, which had a strong “Austin” sound.

In 2014 Bill moved to California and continued his voice recordings and playing with several bands, prior to starting Band X. He calls Band X a “bunch of pros who know how to make great music.”

Lyle Sanders

Lead Guitar & Vocals

Lyle's guitar is the primary solo instrument of Band X.  Lyle bought his first guitar with money he saved from his paper route. He's been playing his electric since 3rd grade back in Columbus, Ohio.  Like many musicians, during his teen years he began by playing in garage bands.  Those acts played various talent shows, pool parties and the inevitable battle of the bands.  This continued through high school and college when his groups played proms, sorority and fraternity parties, homecomings, and eventually clubs.  There were even a few hotel circuits sprinkled into the mix.

Primarily self-taught, Lyle has had formal lessons, which is why he's easily able to read charts and specifically reference complicated chords during rehearsals.  He is also the primary voice, eclipsed only by the lead singer for Band X, Sheri.  Lyle's schedule is so intense that he's often asked to play for more than one band in a single evening.

Sheri Showalter

Lead Vocals & Percussion

Sheri's musical background has its roots deep in a variety of musical genres. She grew up in Great Falls, Montana and studied and performed choral music. She toured seven European countries performing in many famous cathedrals and venues when she was just 17. In her senior year of high school her choir was one of a few in the country invited to perform at the Music Educators National convention in Chicago. Later she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where she honed her vocal rock technique under the direction of Judy Davis, often call the "Vocal Coach to the Stars."  She began fronting a number of rock, top-40, pop, and R&B bands and has shared the stage with many well-known artists. Then from 2005 to 2020 she toured around North America, and Southeast Asia with "House of Floyd," a Pink Floyd Tribute band. Her voice reveals numerous influences, and has prompted comparisons to Linda Ronstadt, Alannah Myles, Tina Turner, Stevie Nicks, Ann Wilson, Pat Benatar, Kiki Dee, Annie Lenox, Bonnie Raitt, Etta James, Diana Ross and many others. During her career she has also recorded jingles for local businesses and sung background vocals on other musicians' recordings. In any case, she has an impressive vocal range allowing her to perform songs recorded by both male and female artists, and her vocal tone invokes significant strength and complexity. Combine the auditory with her high energy stage presence, and she becomes the band's perfect focal point. People come specifically to hear her belt out favorites, which is why she's often introduced as "Sheri The Showalter."

Skip Wiggins

Bass Guitar & Vocals

Skip is a multi-instrumentalist and composer who comes from a large musical family but dreamed of being a cowboy when he grew up. His father played gospel piano, and his mother sang. His mom inspired all the kids to learn and appreciate all types of music.  This led to Skip to becoming a sought-after multi-instrumentalist and composer with an exceptionally smooth and unique vocal style. Skip pulls his inspiration from his family. His musical talent is immediately recognized by other musicians and members of the audience. Having played in multiple bands during his career he's also able to quickly adapt to various musical styles and genres. Although Skip is a laid-back kind of guy with a very cool vibe, don't be fooled, when he picks up the bass guitar, he's a monster player. Skip is always right there in the pocket laying down some cool groove to drive the Band X sound, making him the real deal!
